A search for an origin mother.

Lumimu'ut, the assumed mythical mother of all Minahassans. Yet, if you dive deeper local oral history holds over 11 different origin stories that describe how she came to existence. Changing face, stretching meaning, moulding histories, telling unstable origin myths of a peoples matriarch. Deconstructing the illusion of an origin and a linearity.

Here, different materialisations of the same face appear from the exhibition floor, assuming both creation as death. Framed and lit by the moving sunlight, the visual dominating face changes the perception of the installation over the day. Embracing variety and ambiguity of a tribes origin myth.
